I think it's damned good. My only suggestion would be that I personally would like to see a Father-Son only version of this. That is a closeup of the section with William and Lee Adama.

The shadowing and the shades of yellow you used are quite vivid, but there is still a delightful grittiness to it. Plus the details are just so......tiny! Its amazing how deep you got into it.

I love the images of all the characters, and expecially love the huge legions of Raiders flying in the background. Great artwork!

This is so awesome! I love the artwork of sci-fi posters of the 70s and 80s, and I think you've definitely done it justice here! I really like how you made Six's head out of nebulas, clouds, and Cylon raiders. If this was an actual poster, I would totally buy it. You should consider selling it as a print!

Photoshop CS5. I'm just sort of experimenting -- I traced over the picture so that's why it came out well. I'm just hoping to get a feel of how to do this and maybe with time I won't need the trace!

Yes Rekko, I did do this. I wish I had thought to do a progression because unlike my normal method of working, I did the piece in three layers, a gold, a purple, and a magenta(plus a black and white at the end for contrast), and the three color layers had nice abstract qualities when viewed separately.

I'm very grateful for your open expression.
Thanks Rekko,
Brian

Advise to aspiring artists, paint what you love, you'll push yourself a little further just to honor the subject.

No problem! I think reeealllly good artists like you should be credited! :D I still can't get over how good it is! The way you did it looks really effective and the different layers add a really nice touch.
That is really good advise, thankyou - i agree, if you are painting/creating something you love you will do that little bit extra!

I wanted to write a critique, but I'm not a premium member... >.< Whatever, I'll comment again.

An impressive work, with a very appropriate choice of colors, that reflect the dark atmosphere of the series. The characters and their expressions were skillfully drawn, especially Sharon (Athena) and Helo's. Love that particular detail, which refers to their constant runaway on Season 1, with the legion of centurions on their heels.

The overwhelming presence of cylon raiders, contrasting with the colonial vipers' small number, as well as the eye detail on the background (which escaped my first glance - BTW, it that Six's eye?), were excellent additions.

I would only point the absence of civilian ships and the cylon humanoid models (other than Sharon) as a negative aspect. If I had to give you a score from 0 to 10, it'd be a 9! Again, great job!

Thanks for the considered critique Sole. That is Six in the background, in fact there is another element in the piece which i believe I've hidden too well. I'll return down to give you a moment if you want to guess....................................................................................................................................................................................... THIS IS TO TAKE UP ROOM AND MASK THE ANSWER AT A GLANCE. OK HERE'S THE ANSWER Opposite Sixes eye in the BG, mirroring her face, is a cylon face hidden in the nebula. Her other half.

Thanks again Sole!

..... HOLY! O.O
I missed that too! Half of a centurion's face, disguised as a nebula! Okay, I just updated your score to 9.5, LOL. Very well thought!
